Roof Replacement Job in North Andover MA

Hi-Tech recently completed a roof replacement on a home in North Andover that offered several unique challenges that were successfully met.
The two-story home featured a multi-faceted roofline, with numerous angles and valleys that required special attention. After a thorough inspection and measurement, we presented the homeowner with an estimate. They selected our CertainTeed® Landmark Charcoal Black shingle style.

Our crew arrived bright an early on the scheduled start day, and by 8 am were busy draping the entire home in tarps, from roof edge to ground level. This is to prevent damage to the home’s siding or landscaping during the “tear off” of the old roof.
Next we took the time to inspect the roof deck itself, searching for any damaged or weakened panels. In this home’s case, no replacement was necessary, and the team began the process of covering the roof deck with sturdy underlayment, including a layer of water and ice protection along the lower edge. In addition, we cut into the roof peak along one area so that we could install a ridge vent – an important component that ensures proper attic ventilation to help deter ice dams.
Next we installed the ridge vent itself, then began positioning new flashing – aluminum strips that provide extra strength and water management in key collection areas, such valleys and around chimneys and vents.
Once all the flashing was in place it was time to begin placing and securing the shingles. Row after row of the CertainTeed “dimensional” shingles were aligned and overlapped for maximum protection against rain, snow, ice and wind. It is still a pleasure to see the steady progress of a new roof as it advances from peak to edge.
Once all shingles were in place we conducted a close-up inspection of the roof, looking for any gaps, loose shingles or flashing, or other potential issues. Only then were we satisfied the job was complete – almost.
At Hi-Tech we are scrupulous about cleaning up after ourselves. Our crew spread out across the grounds to scoop up any stray piece of roofing material, loose nails or other debris that may have escaped. We always want to leave a home looking better than when we arrived.
Re-roofing this beautiful home in North Andover required 2-1/2 days of work, but the end result was well worth it. The homeowners and their family can now sleep securely, knowing they are protected against the weather.
